 Community-Based Transition Program

The Allegany County Public Schools Community-Based Transition Program provides students ages 18-21, seeing a Maryland high school certificate, with the opportunity to continue their educational experiences in age-appropriate community settings.  There are currently three locations serving these students with mild to severe cognitive disabilities.

One site is located on the campus of Frostburg State University in Tawes Hall room 161; one site is a 3 Pershing Street, rooms 301 and 302 in Cumberland; and the third is at Friends Aware Industries at 1601 Holland Street in Cumberland.

The program focuses on the development of functional academics, social/interpersonal skills, job skills, communication skills, recreation and leisure, travel training, and self-determination skills.
