Adult Education (GED)

Adult Education classes for persons desiring to earn a State of Maryland High School Diploma are offered free of charge.  The Adult Basic Education Program will provide basic skill instruction for students who are interested in preparing for the General Education Development (GED) exam.  The classes are open to any adult who is 16 years of age or older and has formally withdrawn from school.  Classes are conducted at multiple sites throughout the county.  Both daytime and evening classes are available.  Daytime classes are conducted year round.

External Diploma Program (EDP)

The External Diploma Program (EDP) provides a second option for adults to obtain a high school diploma.  EDP is structured to provide opportunities for individualized learning and applied life skills.  In order to enroll, individuals must be 18 years or older and have formally withdrawn from school.  Each client is assigned to an assessor/advisor, who addresses the competencies that are required for completion of the program.  A competency review of the student's performance is completed by committee prior to awarding a high school diploma.  A fee is charged for the purchase of the materials.
