The 15th Career Center student house project is now complete, and the school is currently accepting sealed bids until June 1, 2012. The minimum bid is $225,000. The 2011-2012 school year will soon come to a close. I would like to take this opportunity to offer congratulations to our 2012 graduates, their parents, and all the teachers who have been a part of their educational journey through ACPS. This year has been especially busy. Our instructional staff has been working very hard to meet the expectations of transitioning to the Common Core Curriculum. Maryland is a part of a 24-state consortium making this transition and embarking on common state assessments for our students, which will be administered to our students for the first time in the spring of 2015. We are also developing a new evaluation system and process for principals and teachers to be piloted in the 2012-2013 school year. The development of the budget for the 2012-2013 school year continues to be very challenging as the General Assembly delayed adopting a final state budget, and we continue to manage our budget with declining state and local revenues.
